ABOUT THE WATER GROUP

Founded in June, 2008, Water Group LLC is a Business Services Consulting firm based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We work with business leaders to help them make better decisions, convert those decisions to actions, and deliver the sustainable success they desire. In addition, we provide functional services including strategy, sales & marketing, and operations support to help organizations and their associates perform more effectively. We've worked with many of the Global 500 as well as small business, and we are proud of our clients' track record after having engaged with us.

The Water Group was formed to fill the growing need for high-quality, professional consulting in the areas of sales & marketing, business process improvement, Managed Print Services, and business unit strategy -- without the usual exorbitant price tag. The firm is part of a fully-integrated joint venture with Marketing & Business Integration, LLC (MBI), founded in 2002 by Michael Maupin. The two firms share common management, have fully-integrated business functions, and share both a financial and functional investment. For business traction, branding, and identity reasons, however, we made the decision to maintain the two distinct brands: Water Group and MBI.

MBI started as an IBM reseller of hardware, software and services. Later, we developed a group of I/T consulting services to support the products we sell. Finally, we added a business development team to assist our clients in selling their products. These services, in addition to the business consulting services provided under the Water Group entity, provide businesses with a solution set that is nearly unmatched.

THE WATER GROUP TEAM

Michael Maupin
Principal, and Managing Partner MBI
Michael has over 23 years of sales and sales management experience. He started his career at IBM as a sales representative and went on to serve as a Business Unit Executive responsible for a billion-dollar sales organization. Over the years, Michael has worked with companies on myriad sales improvement initiatives. As a testament to his sales and team development experience, Michael’s team closed a $1.2 billion complex outsourcing contract with a major global corporation. In 2002, Maupin founded MBI as a reseller of IT products and has continued to grow MBI by adding Business Development service offerings, partnerships, sales training and Outsourced Sales. He is a member of the Philadelphia chapter of the BDPA and serves on the board of directors of OIC. Education: Virginia Commonwealth University (Marketing). Training at Harvard University and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.


Bobby (Bob) Smith
Principal, Water Group Canada
Bob Smith is a sales veteran with an outstanding track record of performance spanning nearly 30 years. In addition to holding sales positions across various industry segments, Bob most recently held the position of Senior Consultant at Hewlett-Packard Company where, among other significant Managed Print Services wins, he sold the first global MPS deal to the Ford Motor Company (which he also renewed), and over his career has sold more than $200M in MPS deals. Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Illinois


Tab Edwards

Principal

Tab is a consultant, author, and lecturer with more than 25 years of experience in consulting, strategy, sales, and business management. He has run a $2.6Billion sales organization and has held award-winning sales, management, and consulting positions at some of the world’s most admired companies, including the IBM Corporation, General Electric , SMCC, and Hewlett-Packard, where he achieved the ranking of Master-level Consultant. He is the author of seven books on the topics of sales, strategy, and Managed Print Services (an Amazon.com Bestseller). Education: University of Pittsburgh (BA Accounting), The Pennsylvania State University (MBA Marketing), Pace University’s Lubin School of Business (Doctoral student). He is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt Practitioner.

Andy Stanhope
Financial Systems
Andy is a senior financial and strategic planning consultant with hands-on experience as CFO and COO of financial services firms and finance companies. Expertise includes financial modeling, systems design and development, business and strategic planning to enhance growth and profitability, managing metadata, developing budgets and forecasts, due diligence investigation and evaluation of prospective mergers and acquisitions (including review/analysis of tangible/intangible assets. Proficient technologist with expertise in MS Excel, MS Access, VBA, SQL Server. Education: Brown University (BA, Mathematics, Political Science); Northeastern University (MBA, Finance & Accounting)

May Cella
Consultant, Instructor
Over a 26+ year career at JPMorganChase, Mary has served in a variety of senior management capacities, including Assistant Treasurer, Assistant V.P. of Purchasing, V.P. of Distribution Services, and most recently Vice President responsible for nationwide on-site copy services. Mary’s extensive experience with finance, contracts, operations, Imaging & Printing and business unit management gives her the knowledge and real-world experience to effectively support Water’s clients and deliver effective training & coaching. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Pace University and a Master of Science from Wilmington University.

Gregory Johnson
The Water Training Institute
Gregory has more than 25 years of sales and executive management experience gained from some of the most respected companies in the information technology sector. He started his sales management career at IBM and has since gone on to hold senior management and Vice President positions for Microsoft, Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems, Hitachi, and SMCC/Oxford Hill. He has extensive experience in complex services sales and working with Fortune 1,000 Corporations on business strategy and business development. Gregory holds both a Bachelor’s and MBA Degree in Finance from The University of Pittsburgh.

Josephine Scere
Consulting Associate
Josephine joins the Water team as the assistant to the Principals. Her project excellence, attention to detail, and strategy acumen helps the team deliver high levels of value to our clients. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
